Painted during early spring with junipers, yacca and Joshua cacti caught in the fading light at Pipes Canyon. The high Mojave desert of southern California.Early inhabitants of this region included the Serrano, Chemehuevi and Shoshonean people who lived more to the east.Contact with Europeans occured as late as the 1870's in this area 4520 feet above sea level, north of the 34th N and between 116/117th meridians.
